Tarvaris Jenkins (Coach J), is a true basketball lover. Coach J has been playing basketball since he was a child. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Coach J comes from a successful basketball lineage. He played AAU for many years as a kid and varsity basketball at Foster High School in Richmond, TX. He played college basketball at Crossroads Christian College where he was second team All-American and first team All-Conference as a freshman. He also attended Southern Vermont College. Coach J is the founder and Pastor of Transparent Ministries in Leander, TX.  Coach J started coaching AAU in 2018 in Dallas, TX, but has been coaching since he was in high school. He has experience as an assistant varsity high school coach and as a middle school head coach. He trains all over the greater Austin area with his personal training business Train True. Coach J established Texas Conquerors to change the dynamic of the AAU culture and coach players to succeed in life in addition to basketball. He wants to ensure that all players know they are more than their basketball talents and has the desire to present opportunities to help achieve their goals beyond the court. "I want to help players who look like me become successful in life by providing tools and resources I never had growing up. I want to help them get a leg up in life.", he says. Coach J is a God-fearing man and is married to his beautiful wife, Valena and a father of two adorable girls, Larryn and Avarie. His #1 rule for everyone: "Respect yourself, respect your parents, respect your teammates, and respect the game."
